From 14:00 on Saturday, March 12, Issues related to leprosy, a lecture by Mr. Takashi Watanabe, Mayor of Higashimurayama, will be held on YouTube live. * No prior application required, free viewing
Mr. Takashi Watanabe has been actively working as the mayor of Higashimurayama City, where Tama Zenseien is located, by making efforts to plan the future of Tama Zenseien and promoting learning about Hansen's disease problems at elementary and junior high schools in the city. I've been working on the problem. In this lecture, we will talk about the encounter with the leprosy problem and Higashimurayama City's efforts to deal with the leprosy problem, while being related to his own career.

Mr. Takashi Watanabe
東村山市長
全国ハンセン病療養所所在市町連絡協議会会長
1961年東京都中野区で生まれ、東村山市で育つ。
茨城大学人文学部を卒業後、6年間日本電気関連会社に勤務。
その後、政治家を志し平成3年に東村山市議会議員となり、平成15年には市議会史上最年少議長に就任。平成19年に東村山市長選挙に初当選し、現在4期目。
ハンセン病療養所の所在市町が共通する課題について協議し、その解決を図る全国ハンセン病療養所所在市町連絡協議会の会長としても精力的に活動している。
