Hansen's Disease Museum Research Report
Research Report
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare conducted its first nationwide public awareness survey to understand the reality of discrimination and prejudice against Hansen's Disease, and published the results in April 2024 as the "Report on the Nationwide Public Awareness Survey Regarding Issues related to leprosy."
The report concludes that "prejudice and discrimination against Hansen's Disease still exist and remain a serious problem," and points out that "the government's human rights education and awareness campaigns may not be reaching the public at all."
In response to this, The National Hansen's Disease Museum conducted a survey targeting visitors, the general public, and teachers in order to consider the future activity policies and measures of the The National Hansen's Disease Museum. The results of the survey, compilation, and analysis have been compiled into a report, which is published below.
