We are pleased to announce that we will be holding the Kaizuken Painting Exhibition ``Drawing the Forest of Life'' as an event related to the 2024 special exhibition ``Connecting with the Heart of Painting - 100 Years of Tama Zenshoen Painting''.
Tama Zenshoen is a vast site with lush greenery. These trees were grown through a greening campaign carried out by residents who were forced to live here due to the country's misguided segregation policy. There are also trees planted in memory of the hometowns that cannot return home, and the residents have a special feeling for the greenery within Inside the sanatorium. Currently, residents, Higashimurayama City, and local residents are carrying out a movement to preserve the green grounds cultivated by the residents as a ``Human Rights Forest'' for future generations.
Based on this history, this exhibition will display five new series of paintings by Mr. Kaizuken, depicting Tama Tama Zenshoen as a ``Forest of Life''. Due to the aging and decreasing number of residents, the painting activities of the residents themselves are coming to an end, but we hope that you will take a look at this exhibition as an attempt to pass on the memories of Tama Zenshoen through pictures.
