In the past, at Leprosy sanatorium, there was a long period of time when there was little entertainment for residents to enjoy. In such an era, various events were held during the New Year holidays, and meals were served more luxuriously than usual, which was a great pleasure for the residents.
This time, all raw Inside the sanatorium of Nagayo Shrine, including the New Year's visit to a Shinto shrine to, will hold an event that once can experience the New Year event, which has been carried out among the sanatorium.
Why don't you spend the New Year while thinking about the feelings of the residents?

The calligraphy class has a capacity of 20 people, with a rotation system between the first half (1:30pm to 2:30pm) and the second half (2:30pm to 3:30pm).

Advance application (first-come-first-served basis) is required, so please apply from the website.

This offer is limited to students from 3rd grade of elementary school to 3rd grade of junior high school.

Please bring a calligraphy set and a model (for those who have homework).

Mr. Chiaki Kanno, a professor at the University of Tsukuba (co-authored the textbook "New Penmanship", Tokyo Shoseki) will guide you.

Kite making will be limited to 20 people (first-come-first-served basis on the day).

On the day, numbered tickets will be distributed at the reception desk of the museum.

Participation in only some programs is also possible.

The outdoor program may be canceled due to weather conditions.

Report on "Let's Try It! New Year's Events"

Happy New Year! We held a New Year's event on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 10:00 to 15:30. Approximately 100 people participated. Although it was our first attempt, it was a great success thanks to your support. A total of 134 people visited the museum on the day, which was an unusually large number for the first opening day of the new year.
We look forward to your continued support of The National Hansen's Disease Museum this year.
We would like to introduce some of the opinions and feedback we have received from our customers.

The gentle voice of Attorney Akanuma was very easy to listen to and I could understand the process leading up to the family proceedings. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn Hansen's Disease from various aspects. I would like as many people as possible to participate.
I visited the museum with my child (9 years old). While enjoying each event, I was able to see the permanent exhibition, which was very meaningful.
It was a fun event that both small children and adults could enjoy. I was surprised at the picture-story show and the children watching. It was nice to be able to visit the museum with my children.
I enjoyed it so much that I will come again next year! !! It was good for the children to have the Hansen's Disease
