Lecture on Issues related to leprosy and the social mission of lawyers - Lawyers who fought Hansen's disease trial- Event report

On January 25th, we held a lecture on Issues related to leprosy and the social mission of lawyers: Lawyers who fought Hansen's disease trial.
Since last year, The National Hansen's Disease Museum has been holding a series of lectures in which we invite people from various professions who have worked on Issues related to leprosy to talk about their experiences. The first session was held in December 2018, titled ``Lecture: What I want to tell those of you who want to become social workers/Lecturer: Etsuko Sakate (social worker, National Sanatorium Oku-Komyoen Welfare Division)''. The second event was held in June 2019, titled ``Lecture: ``Human Recovery'' Visited by a Reporter - From an Encounter with Leprosy recovered persons / Lecturer: Mr. Hideyuki Ogawa (Mie Television Broadcasting News Production Director)'' . The third lecture was held in August 2019, titled "Learning and Communicating Issues related to leprosy- From the School Field" / Lecturer: Ken Sakuma (Chief Teacher, Fuchu Branch, Tokyo Metropolitan Musashidai Gakuen) . For today's 4th session, we have invited attorney Yasuhiro Akanuma (Secretary Director of the Hansen Hansen's Disease National Litigation East Japan Lawyers Group and Defense Counsel in the Lawsuit by Former Leprosy Patients' Families), who has contributed to the plaintiff's victory as a Executive Secretary of the East Japan Defense Counsel in the Lawsuit Against the Government by Former Leprosy Patients and Defense Counsel in the Lawsuit by Former Leprosy Patients' Families We spoke on the theme of `` Issues related to leprosy and the Social Mission of Lawyers: Lawyers Who Fought Hansen's disease trial.''
Thank you very much for visiting our many customers. We would like to introduce the opinions and impressions we received from our customers.

  • The gentle voice of Attorney Akanuma was very easy to listen to and I could understand the process leading up to the family proceedings. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn Hansen's Disease from various aspects. I would like as many people as possible to participate.
  • The story of the lawyer Yasuhiro Akanuma regarding the unconstitutional state redress proceedings and the family proceedings was very helpful because I could hear the issues that only those who were actually involved in the proceedings could know. Thank you very much.
  • I studied for the first time about the Issues related to leprosy I am studying the Constitution and basic human rights, but I would like to know more about the Issues related to leprosy
  • As a lawyer, I learned a lot about the legal struggle so far by talking in an easy-to-understand manner based on my own reflection. What do you do as a human being when human rights violations occur? I would like to continue thinking about how to fight as a human being. I'm really thankful to you.
  • I felt that it was important to know the Constitution and to have a proper eye on discrimination and human rights on a daily basis. Reread the Constitution again.
  • I think the question is how to relate to the theme of "Hansen's Disease I will try to do as much as I can. The polite story of Attorney Akanuma was easy to understand and I learned. Thank you very much.

We would like to continue to consider plans that many people can participate in, so we look forward to working with you. We look forward to your participation.
