A land made of memories - Exploring the memories, lives and hopes of Tama Zenshoen
Next to The National Hansen's Disease Museum is the vast grounds of the Tama Tama Zenshoen National Leprosy sanatorium. It is a place where the residents cherish the memories of their past lives together with their peers, live their present lives, and hope for the future after they are gone. When you walk through the grounds, you come across various points here and there that remind you that this is a place filled with such feelings. It is truly a continuous series of moments where you come into contact with the power of the local area.
This special exhibition will introduce 63 of the many locations at Tama Zenshoen, providing an entrance to experience the power of the site. However, this is only an entrance, so after viewing the exhibition, we encourage you to visit the site and experience a glimpse of the feelings of those who lived in Inside the sanatorium in the past and those who currently live Inside the sanatorium. And beyond that, we hope that you will build personal relationships with the residents.
