Speaker: Haruhei Ishiyama

Born in 1936 (Showa 11) in Shizuoka Prefecture

He was diagnosed with Hansen's Disease when he was in the sixth grade of elementary school and dropped out of school.

In 1952, he was forcibly transferred to Kamiyama Fukusei Hospital.

In 1968, he returned to society. After working for a private company, he became a mobility guide for the disabled in Kawasaki City and worked there for 27 years.

In 1970, he married a nurse and had three children.

He currently serves as a director of the Miyamae Ward Social Welfare Council and as the chairman of a local organization for people with disabilities.

Received the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Award and the Kanagawa Bar Association Human Rights Award.
