Event report

The 2016 "Hansen's Disease and Human Rights" Summer Seminar was held on Friday, August 19th.
On August 19th (Friday), a summer seminar on `` Hansen's Disease and human rights'' was held with the participation of approximately 120 people, including the general public, teachers, human rights personnel, and social education committee members.
At the summer seminar, we will comprehensively and systematically learn about Issues related to leprosy, and in order to make use of it in our classes, we will have a DVD screening of ``Do you know about Hansen's Disease?'', `` Hansen's Disease and human rights (No despair in life - more than 70 years with Hansen's Disease)'', We held programs such as `` Storyteller' Stories'', `` Medical science of leprosy (-Learning from Issues related to leprosy)/Lectures'', ``History of Issues related to leprosy and History of the Museum/Lectures'', and ``Museum Tours''.
We would like to introduce the impressions of everyone who participated.

  • Next time, I decided to take a student from my school for a tour, and before that, I attended this seminar to study hard myself. In the first talk by Professor Narita, the message to be conveyed to the students was decided by the words, "I want you to understand yourself without cleaning up in other places." I also want to face with the students. Next time I would like to bring my students to the seminar. Thank you for your fieldwork. (Number of visits, 3rd time)
  • I was impressed by Mr. Yasuharu Hirasawa's powerful story. Please continue to play an active role for a long time. Kim's story was also polite and easy to understand. I would like you to give a lecture if you have the opportunity. (Number of visits, second time)
  • It was very helpful for me to have the courage to live again and the time to think about my position. (Number of visits, 5th)
  • It was a long training of one day, but from the first words of the director, Mr. Narita, it was very shocking and pierced my heart. When thinking about discrimination, you can compose the side to be discriminated against and the side to be discriminated against. The important thing is to know the truth with my own eyes and ears, think with imagination, and put into action what I can do after that, and I felt that it was my role as a person who participated in this seminar. (Number of visits, 3rd time)
