KOHUJI MONOU Exhibition

Mr. Kofuji Momoo

This exhibition will feature approximately 50 paintings by Kofuji Momou.
Mr. Momoo was born in Miyagi Prefecture in 1930 (Showa 5) and entered Tohokushinseien in 1951 at the age of 20. After entering the kindergarten, he was enthusiastic about literary activities such as senryu, and served as the president of the senryu Inside the sanatorium for many years. At the same time, he created paintings, which are currently featured on the cover of Shinsei, the school's magazine. The colorful watercolor paintings of natural scenes and landscapes drawn on colored paper create Mr. Momoo's unique world view and captivate the viewer. However, Mr. Momoo's life as Leprosy recovered persons must have been anything but peaceful. When you imagine it in this way, you realize that the very creation of paintings with such beauty, gentleness, and softness is both mysterious and precious.
This exhibition will feature over 50 of the works created by Momoo to date, along with his senryu. Please take this opportunity to see these works that are filled with Mr. Momoo's heart.
