The year 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the abolition Leprosy Prevention Law. To mark this occasion, The National Hansen's Disease Museum will be holding a special exhibition focusing on Leprosy Prevention Law itself.

This special exhibition aims to reaffirm the errors of Leprosy Prevention Law by examining what kind of law it was, why its abolition was delayed, what the circumstances were that led to its abolition, and how Former leprosy patients and those involved evaluated Leprosy Prevention Law Leprosy Prevention Law and its abolition.
As the focus is on the law, the main exhibits will be legal texts and explanatory panels, but there will also be displays of original signatures on Leprosy Prevention Law (held at the National Archives of Japan, during the special exhibition period), literary works on the theme of Leprosy Prevention Law, and video materials in which Former leprosy patients and related parties talk about Leprosy Prevention Law.

I hope that by taking this opportunity Looking Back at the Leprosy Prevention Law once again, you will come to a new understanding of its errors.
