Issues related to leprosy and health women holding report

Lecturer Tetsuya Kimura (Tetsuya Kimura, curator of the The National Hansen's Disease Museum

Through the testimony of experienced health women, we introduced some of the activities of the Hansen's Disease isolation policy in local governments. He highlighted aspects that have not been fully clarified so far, such as persuading admission, supporting rehabilitation, and correcting discrimination and prejudice among local residents.
Participants also actively asked questions about the formation of measures against Hansen's Disease after the war and the appearance of health women who were responsible for the response in the community.
We were worried about the first zoom webinar held at The National Hansen's Disease Museum, but we were able to deliver it safely with the cooperation of all of you. With participation from afar, we were able to watch with almost no increase or decrease in the number of people from the start to the closing. I'm really thankful to you.
Taking advantage of your suggestions, we will continue to deliver talks on the Issues related to leprosy from various perspectives.

From the questionnaire

  • Since it is far away, I would appreciate it if you could continue to give lectures online in the future. I learned a lot. Thank you very much.
  • It was very easy to understand and the progress was smooth. Thank you very much.
  • Thank you for your wonderful lecture. We will use it as a reference when advancing free research at the school!
  • It was my first online course, but I was able to attend it without any major problems. It was a good lecture that gave me an opportunity to approach problems from the community and think of it as something that society as a whole experienced. I'm looking forward to the next time.
  • Thank you for your valuable story. I participated because I was interested in discrimination against infectious diseases due to the problem of the new coronavirus. In this lecture, I learned that in Hansen's Disease, the runaway of the administration could not be stopped due to the indifference of the people, and that many people suffered from prejudice and discrimination due to incorrect knowledge. From there, I feel that we can see what we should do with the corona virus. To be interested in people in distress and to acquire correct knowledge. I would like to learn from history and realize a society in which people suffering from illness will suffer socially in the future. Thank you very much for the opportunity to study.
  • According to the summary of the verification meeting, the position of the public health woman is positioned as the bearer of the Leprosy Prefectural Movement, but according to the actual site survey, there is a limit that can be done individually between the area and the patient. I got a glimpse of what I was doing. I also thought that the episodes that made me feel painful to listen to were more than anything else revealing the social situation. In addition, knowing the background of the person who was taken up by the government, etc., helped me to see the background, and I think that he often introduced the materials so far. Thank you for a very meaningful time.
  • Looking at the phenomena that have occurred from the perspective of the experience of society as a whole, I was able to realize that I can see things that I could not see before. I was able to hear the valuable experience of a health woman in Kochi prefecture in her own words over time, and at the same time, I was impressed by the background and interpretation of that era. I am a public health nurse, but I felt once again that the public health nurses of this era are living with people while having institutional policies in the background, and that this must be taken into account. .. Thank you very much for your fulfilling time.
  • I was able to relax and listen. (1) I did not allow home treatment after the development of the therapeutic drug. (2) I felt that it was decisive that there was no system to serve as a saucer for ex-patients after Hansen's Disease was completely cured. I look forward to talk shows with multiple people in the future.

… We have received many other answers. Thank you very much.
