He talked about the activities of Koyama Fukusei Hospital, which has been around for more than 130 years since its establishment in 1889 (Meiji 22), and the Rehabilitation Memorial Hall, which tells its history, with abundant photographic materials and videos.
The background of the founder's missionary Testwid overcoming various difficulties to establish the hospital, the relationship between the hospital and local residents, the life of Leprosy patients and Former leprosy patients the hospital, the way of faith, etc. Was introduced.
The viewers were particularly interested in the video "Koyama Fukusei Hospital Live" and the movie "Resurrection" . These provided an opportunity to think about the significance of video materials that convey fragments of history.
In addition to the inside of the hospital, such as the exhibits in the Fukusei Memorial Hall, the icon and the graveyard, we will touch on the story of the Former leprosy patients are becoming difficult due to the current countermeasures against the new coronavirus and the aging and declining number of people involved. I was able to do that.
Many questions and impressions were received from the participants, showing the depth of interest in private sanatoriums, which are operated in a different way from National Sanatorium.
We will continue to provide talks on the Issues related to leprosy from various perspectives, making use of the opinions received in the questionnaire.

From the questionnaire

  • It was very interesting to know a lot about the history of Koyama Fukusei Hospital and the difference from the national sanatorium for the first time. I would like to actually visit when it becomes possible to visit from outside the prefecture.
  • The presentation made full use of photos and videos, and I was able to watch it without interrupting my interest.
  • I learned a lot for the first time that Yae Ibuka asked for a second opinion from Keizo Dohi, which was a great learning experience. It seems to be a scenic place overlooking Mt. Fuji and the mountains of Hakone, so I definitely want to visit it.
  • Currently, I am attending school to obtain the qualification of "mental health worker", and I often have the opportunity to hear about Hansen's Disease in class. This week, Ms. Yae Ibuka was taken up in the class, so I listened to it with great interest. There were a lot of videos, and I was able to get a lot of information in an hour. Regarding Hansen's Disease, I have only been to the museum in Tokyo and Oshimaseishoen in Kagawa prefecture, but I also wanted to go to the compound life memorial hall. Thank you very much.
  • After listening to this talk, I had never been to the premises of the Rehabilitation Hospital even though I was a local, so I definitely wanted to visit the memorial hall and the hospital. There is no local museum in Gotemba City, but there was a wonderful museum in the Rehabilitation Hospital.

… We have received many other answers. Thank you very much.
