島比呂志（1918年から2003年）は、ハンセン病療養所を拠点に活動した代表的な作家です。2018年の今年は生誕100年にあたります。
香川県に生まれ、大島青松園、星塚敬愛園を経て晩年は社会復帰しました。
文芸同人誌『火山地帯』を40年間主宰し、小説や評論を通して社会的偏見や差別とたたかい、社会との交流を希求し、らい予防法の改正廃止を訴えました。原告全面勝訴の判決を勝ちとったハンセン病違憲国家賠償請求訴訟を提起した最初の人物でもあります。
今回のギャラリー展示では、自筆原稿、自筆書簡、写真などを通して、書くことに生きた島比呂志の不屈の生涯をたどり、その人物像と作品世界を広く紹介することを目指します。

Gallery talk

A garry talk was held by the curator on Sunday, November 25th during the session. Thank you for participating in a large number of customers. The National Hansen's Disease Museum will hold a lecture by Mr. Tomio Tateishi "100th Anniversary of Birth, Hiroshi Shima's Life and Literature" at the video hall of the museum on Saturday, December 1st.
