Holding a Torn Heart - Children Living in Quarantine -

[Date]
September 27, 2008(soil)From November 30th(Day)

In the past, children in Japan could become infected with Hansen's Disease. Even if they were very young, they had to be separated from their parents and siblings and live in sanatoriums.
Even in the world of Leprosy patients, they lived childlike lives, but deep down they continued to miss their parents and siblings and yearn for their hometowns.
This exhibition conveys the feelings of children who had to live with their hearts torn apart in pursuit of bonds with their parents and siblings. We hope that it will encourage you to acknowledge your own troubles, or to have compassion for the suffering of your friends. At the same time, we hope that you will be able to feel the strength of survival from the images of the children in the sanatorium who desperately lived despite deep in their hearts suffering so much that they wanted to "disappear from this world."
