Born in 1939 (Showa 14) in Aichi Prefecture. Diagnosed with Hansen's Disease when he was in the sixth grade of elementary school, he entered the National Suruga Sanatorium. In 1956 (Showa 31), he enrolled in the Shinrada classroom of Oku High School as a second-year student, and returned to society after graduating.

In 1965, his illness worsened and he was admitted to Suruga Sanatorium before being admitted to Tama Zenshoen Zenshoen. In the 1960s, he started working for All-Japan National Leprosaria Patients' Association. His hobby since childhood was baseball and other sports, and he still plays tennis today. He spends his days busy visiting and caring for the residents who are older than him.
