Facility rental event | April 12, 2017 (Wednesday)

≪Urgent report≫

On March 29, Yasuji Hirasawa, who was the protagonist of this project, was hospitalized due to poor physical condition. Now that my physical condition is gradually recovering, I am very relieved.
After all it is impossible for the production. However, I heard from the museum that he said, "I'm very sorry that I can't participate in this event." I told you that I would like you to take a rest without worrying about this.

Also, as Mr. Hirasawa's pinch hitter, Dr. Masaichi Gidoh, head of the Social Awareness Division at Hansen's Disease Museum will give a one-hour lecture entitled "Hansen's Disease and human rights - What we can learn from Issues related to leprosy." We apologize to those who were looking forward to Mr. Hirasawa's lecture, but the entire executive committee would like to prepare for this event in order to fill in the gaps.

Event name-Around Yasuji Hirasawa-Symposium "Ask for life to be excluded"

In a world where the value of a group is prioritized over an individual, there is a life that is first and foremost absent.
In such a world, everyone is worried that "tomorrow will be my own", but will not admit it, and will end up identifying the value of the group with themselves and bullying the weaker people. ..
There was an incident that seemed to have happened from that contradictory situation. It is a mass murder case at "Tsukui Yamayurien" in July last year. The suspect's words, "You can kill anything that is useless to society," really embodied exclusion.
Leprosy patients isolation, which will remain as one of the blemishes in our modern history, and the history of the movement for change, is to listen quietly to the voice of life that has been excluded. At the same time, it will be a task to listen to the anxiety in you. Hansen's Disease learning from the leprosy movement, I hope we can think together about what we can do for a world where we, who are weak, can still live with dignity.
